Joint Commissioner (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam on Thursday said the police station concerned has not yet got the copy of the warrant issued for the arrest of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust Fund graft cases, reports UNB.
"We've heard from the media that the copy of the arrest warrant has been sent to the police station concerned but the police station informed us that they have not yet received the copy of the arrest warrant," he told a press briefing at the DMP media centre.
He further said, "We'll take the next step when the copy reaches the police station."
Revoking her bail, a court here on Wednesday issued warrant for the arrest of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and two other accused in the Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust Fund graft cases.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Special Judge's Court-3 passed the order, rejecting two-time pleas moved by the counsel for the BNP chief.
The court passed the orders as the three accused did not appear before it apparently because of security concern in the ongoing hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
