Police to bar 'corrupt' from going abroad, says IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Monday said the police would take action on directives to halt corrupt persons attempting to leave the country.

"We'll take action to stop any foreign travel move by any person against whom allegations of corruption and irregularities allegations are being raised."

The IGP made the disclosures to the media after inaugurating the 110th founding anniversary of the Dhaka Range Police in Segunbagicha area.

"The police force is steadfast in its determination to show zero tolerance to corruption. Action will be taken if any specific complaint is found against any person."

According to Mr Mamun, the police of the Dhaka Range have been delivering services to the people.

He has served as a DIG of the Dhaka Range.

At present, 96 police stations in Dhaka are now under the Dhaka Range.

Additional IGP (admin) Qamrul Ahsan, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Habibur Rahman and Dhaka Range DIG Syed Nurul Islam, among others, were present.
