The government has gone against the people by increasing electricity prices, said BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, reports bdnews24.com .
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the average 6.96 per cent hike in power price on Thursday afternoon.
"This will increase the people's suffering. We are condemning this decision," said Fakhrul at a discussion in the National Press Club.
He urged the government to cancel the decision.
"They are doing this to cover up the misappropriation of quick rentals' money."
