CHATTOGRAM, Nov 23 (BSS) : Pragatishil Ganatantrik Forum, Islami Oikya Jote and Islami Front started campaign to contest the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election in the district as the parties have already started nomination form sale for intending candidates.

"We started our election preparation. Now, we are carrying out nomination form distribution and other preparatory activities as we have a plan to nominate over 200 candidates from Oikya Jote," Islami Oikya Jote secretary general Mufti Faizullah said.

He said as a registered party they will approach the people with their own ideology and manifesto for getting the people's verdict in favour of their candidates in the forthcoming election slated for January 7, 2024 as they don't have any plan now to join any election-centric alliance of parties.

Faizullah said he is likely to seek his candidacy for Chattogram-8, Dhaka-7 or Chattogram-7 (Rangunia) constituencies.

Islami Oikya Jote former chairman Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini's son Mawlana Abul Hasnat Amini will submit his candidacy from Amini's constituency.

Pragatishil Ganatantrik Forum, formed on October 15 last, led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)'s former leader and Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) former vice-president (VP) Nizam Uddin has a plan to field candidates in 30 parliamentary seats.

"We will take part in the election from an alliance which includes several parties, including Trinomool BNP. We are prioritizing efficiency in nominating candidates as all of our candidates will be master's degree holders. Our alliance will field candidates in all 300 seats," Nizam Uddin said.

He said he would contest the polls from Chattogram-5 (Hathazari upazila) as the party's member secretary CUCSU former general secretary and former Samajtantrik Chhatra Front leader Azim Uddin from Feni-3.
