CHATTOGRAM, Jan. 27: The Prime Mover-Trailer Workers Union has called a 24-hour strike from Thursday morning demanding issuance of heavy engine licence to the drivers of prime movers, trailers and lorries.
Leaders of the union made the call at a press conference at Chattogram Press Club this morning demanding that the crisis over the issue be resolved by tomorrow (Wednesday) through issuing heavy engine driving license for the three modes of transport.
If the BRTA does not resolve the crisis by the deadline (Wednesday), the Prime Mover-Trailer Workers Union will observe the strike from Thursday 6am to Friday 6am, the leaders said.
They also demanded issuing appointment letters to the drivers of prime movers, trailers and lorries.
Reading out a statement at the press briefing, Md Abu Bakkar Siddiki, general secretary of the Prime Mover-Trailer Workers Union, said there are 7,850 prime movers, trailers and lorries in the country which carry containers from Chittagong sea port.
