Priyanka visits three Rohingya camps

COX'S BAZAR, May 22: Bollywood actress and UNICEF goodwill ambassador for child rights Priyanka Chopra visited three Rohingya refugee camps in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Tuesday.
She first visited a refugee camp at Hariyakhali anchor point under Sabrang union in Teknaf upazila, Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Ranjit Kumar Barua said.
From Hariyakhali, Priyanka went to Ledha, one of the biggest Rohingya refugee camps in Teknaf. She also visited a child development centre, established by UNICEF.
Later, she visited Unciprang Rohingya camp where about 31,000 refugees are now living in, the OC said. During her visit, she talked to Rohingya refugees and their children.
After wrapping up the visit around 12:30 pm, Priyanka Chopra went back to Royal Tulip Hotel where she has been staying since Monday noon.
According to sources, Priyanka will visit Rohingya refugee camps at Kutupalong and Jamtoli today (Wednesday) and will talk to Rohingya people and their children.
She is scheduled to return to Dhaka tomorrow (Thursday), police sources said.
The local administration took tight security measures after the Bollywood film star arrived at the Cox's Bazar Airport on Monday.
However, nearly 0.7 million Rohingya people have fled to Bangladesh from the Rakhine state of Myanmar since August 25, 2017.
