An investigation committee will be formed to determine the cause of a fire that broke out at an office of the Public Works Department (PWD) inside the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) complex on Tuesday afternoon.
According to an official press release issued by the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, the fire erupted at around 3:15 pm at the office of the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department-1, located in the main parliament building.
Being informed, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control within a short time.
No casualties were reported in the incident, while the exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
Acting Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal and Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat immediately visited the site after being informed of the incident. They were briefed by the concerned officials and issued necessary directives.
The Acting Speaker directed the formation of an investigation committee to ascertain the actual cause of the fire, assess the extent of the damage and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The press release said further details regarding the cause of the fire and related issues would be disclosed after the investigation committee submits its report.
