Transport workers withdrew their blockade programme on Wednesday evening, on the fifth day of their agitation launched to press home the demand for lifting toll system on the Buriganga Bridge-1.
The protestors suspended the blockade programme following assurance of local lawmaker, Nasrul Hamid Bipu, who is also the state minister for power, energy and mineral resources.
Talking to the reporters, President of Dhaka District Truck Drivers' Association Osman Gani said they decided to suspend the protest till August 10 following the state minister's assurance.
"We'll go for such agitation again, if the matter is not resolved by the deadline," he, however, added.
