The Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) has demanded exemplary punishment to the vested quarters that are involved in human trafficking in the name of giving lucrative jobs.
The demand came following a recent BBC report about trafficking of a large number of Bangladeshis to Thailand, said a press release issued by the BAIRA office Monday.
The association leaders said a section of unscrupulous people is active since a long time resorting to human trafficking by sending job-seekers abroad.
If such fraudulent practice is not stopped, it will have a negative impact on overseas job sector as well as the country's image, they observed.
A BBC report said dozens of Bangladeshis have been rescued after being abducted and shipped to Thailand only to be sold as slaves.
They were promised well-paid jobs before being dragged, bound and kidnapped.
