RAB arrests 50 teen gang members in Dhaka raids

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested at least 50 suspected members of teen gangs during raids in Dhaka's Jatrabari and Keraniganj areas on Tuesday.
Various weapons were seized from the individuals during their arrest.
A press release by RAB identified the arrested individuals as members of groups including Topbaz Group, Gangster Paradise Group, Boys High Voltage Group, De-Dour Group, Henchka Tan Group, Booster Group and others.
A total of 11 sticks, 17 knives, 6 daggers, 1 switch gear knife, 1 chapati, 1 Chinese axe and 1 electric shock machine were recovered during the operation.
RAB officials said that the detainees were involved in various criminal activities, including theft, robbery, extortion, kidnapping, rape, attempted murder and
dominating neighbourhoods in different areas of Dhaka and along the Dhaka-Mawa highways.
Fifteen of the arrested individuals reportedly face multiple charges filed with various police stations, including theft, robbery, extortion, drug offenses, weapons possession, rape and attempted murder.
The press release further said that RAB has arrested a total of 349 alleged teen gang members through raids conducted in different areas over the past year.
RAB's operations and intelligence surveillance efforts to counter teen gangs are ongoing.
