Rainfall in some parts of the country on Saturday is likely to bring a mild cold-wave from middle of the current week, officials said.

"The temperature might fall from one to three degrees Celsius, once the cloud in the sky disappears within the next one or two days. There might be a mild cold-wave after January 20," Duty Forecasting Officer (DFO) of Dhaka Storm Warning Centre (DSWC) meteorologist Hafizur Rahman told the FE.

If the temperature remains between 10 to 8 degrees Celsius, it is called mild cold-wave. This mild cold-wave may linger for a couple of days, he added.

The rainfall triggered a chilly weather on the day, prompting the city dwellers to throng markets and makeshifts shops for buying warm clothes.

According to DSWC, one millimetre (mm) of rainfall was recorded at Teknaf, Cox's Bazar on the day, while it was less then one mm in Sylhet and Dhaka, 4 mm at Srimangal and 9 mm in Mymensingh. However, there was no report of rainfall in the country's northern region.

The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at Ishwardi in Pabna at 10.3 degree Celsius, while the highest at Sitakunda in Chittagong at 29.0 degree Celsius.
