The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) will be able to hand over plots among the allottees of the Uttara Model Town (third phase) and the Purbachal Satellite Town by the end of this year, its chairman Nurul Huda said Wednesday. The RAJUK chairman was optimistic about maintaining this time-frame about handing-over of the plots to the allottees under the two projects. The works for developing infrastructures like roads, bridges and pillars, for both the projects are progressing satisfactorily, he noted. He said the RAJUK started handing over the plots at sector-15 of the Uttara Model Town (third phase) to the allottees. The plots at sector-16 and sector-17 will also be handed over gradually, immediately after completion of the development works. "Hopefully, the process will be completed by December, if everything goes on smoothly," Mr Huda said. "We have completed development works in some sectors of both the projects." There are a total of 2,885 plots in the Uttara (third phase) project, located on the west side of its sites in the second phase. The project area includes Diabari, Bauniya, Deul, Bailjuri, Chandalbhog and Nalbhog. About the development of the Purbachal Satellite Town project, he said RAJUK has started allotting 1,100 plots in Purbachal sector-4 and sector-17 to the allottees. The rest of the plots will be handed over by November-December this year, as most development works were being expeditiously executed. The Purbachal project is being implemented on 6,000 acres of land, of which 4,500 acres are in Narayanganj and 1,500 acres, in Gazipur. Around 167,000 people submitted applications for obtaining plots in the Purbachal and the Uttara projects. Of them, 5,042 applicants were allotted plots in the Purbachal and 582 in Uttara, under 12 categories. The categories included those of MPs, justices, government service holders, personnel serving in autonomous bodies, members of the armed forces, artists, sportsmen, businessmen, service holders in private sector and journalists. Besides, the RAJUK chairman said development works at the Purbachal New Town project will start after conducting several surveys. "It will take two years to complete the new project," he added.
