Rivkin hails BD\\\'s sustained growth

The visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Ambassador Charles Rivkin lauded on Thursday Bangladesh's sustained substantial growth and said that the growth should attract the US investors for investing in the country, reports BSS.

During a meeting with Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque at the foreign ministry, he acknowledged the progress made by Bangladesh in the last one and a half years for ensuring workers' rights and workplace safety and wished that the progress would continue.

The hour-long discussions mainly focused on Bangladesh-US bilateral relations with the particular emphasis on economic and business affairs, according to a foreign ministry press release issued in the city.

Some contemporary global issues also came up during the discussion which includes Ebola, Middle-East crisis and regional integration.

Rivkin also lauded Bangladesh's diplomatic success in peacefully resolving the maritime delimitation with both Myanmar and India and expressed interest of his government to assist Bangladesh in harnessing the marine and maritime resources.

Regarding the Bangladesh-US relations, Ambassador Rivkin said that all the indicators suggest that Bangladesh-US relations are broadening and deepening. He said that Washington DC considered the 3rd Partnership Dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States a great success.
