RMG workers go on rampage in Gazipur; 10 hurt

GAZIPUR, Dec 23 (UNB): The workers of a garment factory, who went on strike few days back for salary hike, went on a rampage seeing their factory shut at Rajendrapur in Sadar upazila on Sunday.

Police said the workers of NAZ Limited factory went on work abstention to press home their demand.

The authorities concerned suspended production of the factory for the day apprehending further trouble, said police.

Seeing the gate closed from outside around 8 am the workers got furious and staged demonstrations in front of the factory.

They also torched a motorbike and vandalised a covered van and a CNG run auto-rickshaw. On information, police went to the spot and charged baton and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them, leaving ten people injured.
