April 13, 2010 00:00:00

FE Report
At least 40 people, including four law enforcers, were injured during a clash between demonstrating garment workers and police members Monday at Savar, outskirts of the capital. The workers staged demonstration to realise their 12-point demand, including wage hike.
Witnesses said nearly 2000 workers of Navana Garment turned violent in the morning after being informed that authorities of the apparel factory decided to suspend production in seven of its units, including knitting and sewing.
The sudden notice caused fear among the apparel workers that they might lose their jobs that forced the RMG (readymade garment) workers to go for agitation.
