Robbers held soon after dacoity in city

A group of robbers looted cash, gold and valuables worth about Tk 60,000 from a gold trader's house at Tanti Bazaar in old Dhaka early Friday, reports UNB.
The police arrested four robbers and recovered some of the booty soon after the incident.
The police said, the bandits numbering 3 or 4 entered the house of gold trader Sunil Mondal at 91 Tanti Bazaar under Kotwali police station early Friday.
The robbers looted cash, gold ornament and other valuables worth about Tk 60,000 at gunpoint and left the house with the booty.
The police rushed to the house and detained Year Ali (50), a security guard, for interrogation.
Following interrogation, the police raided different areas in old Dhaka and arrested three robbers-Shafiqul Islam alias Rubel (30), Ashraf Hossain alias Russel (25), and Mehedi alias Mahbub.
The police recovered some of the looted goods worth about Tk 40,000 from their possession. A case was filed with Kotwali police station in this connection.
