Robbery committed at folk singer's apartment in city

Robbers looted gold ornaments worth about Tk (7.2 lakh) from the apartment house of eminent folk singer Dil Afroz Reba in Pallabi area of the city Tuesday afternoon, reports UNB.
Neighbours said a gang of four pressed the calling-bell and got into the apartment of Reba in Block-C of Mirpur Section-12 under Pallabi police station at about 1:30pm as her elder daughter opened the door. The singer and her husband Sowrab Hossain Serker, former chairman of Kashimpur Union Parishad of Gazipur, were both outside the house at the time.
The bandits held hostage Manzuri (23), younger daughter of Dil Afroz Reba, and housemaid Rahima (22) and then looted about 40 tolas of gold ornaments, cash and a cordless phone.
A case was filed with Pallabi police station in this connection.
