Rush at ICDDR,B hospital

Increasing number of patients with severe diarrhoea are crowding the city's ICDDR,B hospital, a specialised centre of treatment for diarrhoea and cholera, reports UNB.
A total of 4,397 patients were admitted to the hospital with severe diarrhoea in the last seven days while 700 patients arrived in 24 hours ending at Wednesday midnight, said a source at the ICDDR'B.
Acting Chief Physician of the hospital Dr Pradip Bardhan said over telephone that diarrhoea patients are rapidly increasing with every passing day. The number of elderly patients was comparatively high, he said.
Additional tents, 200 beds, staff, oral and IV saline and medicines have been added to the hospital's inventory to treat the patients arriving every day with severe state of dehydration.
