Russian company ZiO Podolsk has started supplying equipment to second unit of Rooppur nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts (mws).
It has shipped the Bubbler tank, one of the critical components of nuclear power plant and part of the reactor plant pressuriser system.
The tank weighs 15 tonnes, about eight metre-long, four-metre in height, 2.5 metre in diameter and has a service life of 40 years, said a company official.
The Russian firm manufactured the tank and shipped it from Russia.
The ZiO Podolsk is a concern of Atomenergomash, machine building division of Russia's state atomic energy corporation - Rosatom.
Different kinds of equipment of the first unit of the 2,400 MW Rooppur NPP have already arrived and been installed at the plant site.
The technical design for the tanks has been developed by the company Gidropress and the detailed design documentation has been prepared by ZiO-Podolsk's nuclear power equipment department.
This department also provides the manufacture support and installation supervision services.
ZiO-Podolsk's bubbler tanks are working in a number of nuclear power plants within and outside Russia, including Tianwan plant in China, Kudankulam plant in India, Rostov and Leningrad plants in Russia, the company official said.
Russian company Atomenergomash is the supplier of all the equipment for Rooppur plant reactor hall and major part of the turbine hall equipment. It will also supply steam generators, pump and heat-exchange equipment.
The under construction Rooppur plant will have two units, each with a generation 3+ Russian VVER-1,200 reactor, with active and passive safety systems to generate around 1,200 MW of electricity each.
The first unit is scheduled to be commissioned by 2023 and the second one the following year.
Engineering division of Rosatom is the general contractor of the plant.
