MUNSHIGANJ, Aug 11 (UNB): The operation to salvage sunken launch 'Pinak-6' was postponed due to rough weather Monday.

Munshiganj deputy commissioner Md Saiful Hasan Badal announced this at a press briefing at Padma Rest House here around 11am.

The salvage operation was postponed Monday due to rough weather in the river, while seven days have elapsed after the launch capsized, Md Saiful Hasan Badal said.

However, the efforts to find out the missing will continue, he added.

Earlier, different agencies, including the Navy, Coast Guard, BIWTA and Fire Service, concluded their rescue activities on Sunday while the salvage operation was being carried out by 'Jarip-10' and 'Kandari -2'.

Although a metallic object, resembling the sunken launch Pinak-6, was detected through side scanner sonar of Kandari-2 on Saturday, the divers could not reach near the object till Sunday afternoon due to strong currents in the river.
