At least 10 Bangladeshi expatriate workers were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while 10 others injured.
The accident took place on Saturday morning in the western province of Jizan around 800 kilometers from Jeddah.
A vehicle hit the truck that carrying 20 Bangladeshis to their workplace, from behind, according to a statement, issued by Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah.
Eight workers were killed on the spot and two critically injured. The injured Bangladeshis succumbed to their injuries at hospital, said the statement.
At least 10 others were injured in crash, but their nationalities are yet to be confirmed.
Shahin Shajahan, an expatriate Bangladeshi, told a news agency that his brother Amir Hossain was among those killed and that all of the victims were employees of a Saudi company, Al-Fahd.
A pick-up truck, carrying 20 people, rolled over after a car rammed it from behind. The Riyadh Daily reported the accident occurred on the road between the governorates of Samtah and Al-Hareth.
Labour Councillor Aminul Islam of the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah said they had sent officials to the scene after receiving the news.
The consulate is also maintaining communications with the Saudi authorities, he added
Faridul Islam, a Bangladeshi national working at Al-Fahd, confirmed the identities of six Bangladeshis killed in the accident.
They are Dulal from Sirajganj, Safiqul from Tangail, Matiur Rahman from Narayanganj, Amir Hossain and Hridoy from Narsingdi and Kishoreganj's Jasim.
In a separate incident, another Bangladeshi died in a motorcycle accident on the road from Saudi Arabia's eastern province of Al-Hasa to the neighbouring country Qatar.
Expatriate Bangladeshis said 36-year-old Badol hailed from Tangail.
