Citizen's platform for SDGs, Bangladesh will hold citizen's conclave in the city on April 27 to present the country's progress reports after four years of its engagement with the SDGs.
In the national gathering, the platform will share progress reports on six goals (4, 8, 10, 13, 16 and 17). For this purpose, it held a consultation meeting with the media personnel on Tuesday to get their views and recommendations over these targets of the SDGs.
"We're making progress reports of the country in meeting the SDGs and we'll represent the reports at a national-level citizen's conclave to be held in the city on April 27 next," a key initiator of the platform and distinguished fellow of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya said on Tuesday.
He also said they have already completed two such meetings with the government officials concerned and international development partners to this effect.
"As part of the initiative, we're holding consultation meeting with the media people as we believe media has important role to play for successful implementation of the SDGs through ensuring transparency, accountability and fair access to the information," he added while talking to the consultation meeting.
Executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh Dr Iftekharuzzaman, vice-chairman Newage group of industries Asif Ibrahim, CPD executive director Dr Fahmida Khatun, its additional research director Dr Khondaker Golam Moazzem and senior journalists of different media outlets were also present at the meeting.
