The stock market regulator is going to sit with both the bourses of the country today (Thursday) to discuss financial netting and margin loans provided by members of the stock exchanges.
The meeting is taking place as Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the premier bourse of the country, could not provide the information, asked for by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), on financial netting and margin loans provided by the DSE members.
"We sent letters to the DSE asking for information regarding the financial netting and margin loans. In Thursday's meeting we will discuss the matters with the bourses," SEC member Monsur Alam said.
"In the meeting we'll seek to know for which purpose and in which format the SEC wants the information," DSE Vice President Shakil Rizvi told the FE Wednesday.
However, another SEC member Yeasin Ali said the DSE was reluctant to provide the information.
"We even asked the DSE to provide only Thursday's information, so that we can know the exact flow of money between matured and immature funds. But they did not respond to us," Mr Yeasin Ali said.
