Serious traffic snarl-up in main business hub

The city's main business hub of Motijheel and Dilkhusha suffered a serious traffic snarl-up Sunday hampering business activities in the area.
The traffic congestion continued for almost all working hours from 9:0 am to 3:30 pm.
All the important crossings like Dainik Bangla, Paltan, Shapla square, Fakirapool, Ittefaq, Gulistan witnessed serious traffic jams on the day.
Office goers and clients of banks suffered largely due to the traffic jam.
Commuters suffered greatly as they had to wait for more than 30 minutes at each intersection.
Traffic department sources said thousands of devotees thronged the Baitul Mukarram area and national Eidgah following the death of khatib of Baitul Mukarram Moulana Obaidul Hoque.
Deputy Commissioner of south zone Saidur Rahman told the FE that thousands of devotees gathered at Baitul Mukarram area and national Eidgah to attend Janaja resulting in the traffic jam in the area.
Fresh makeshift iftar stalls set up by vendors on the pavements also contributed to the traffic jam in the area, sources said.
Besides, the number of vehicles rose significantly on the streets hoping that there would be better business during the month of Ramadan, said DC traffic.
