Seven persons, 16 entities picked

Plantation award

The government has selected seven individuals and 16 organisations for the Prime Minister's National Award for Tree Plantation.

The selection was made at a meeting of the National Committee for Prime Minister's National Award for Tree Plantation-2020 on Sunday.

Environment, forest and climate change minister Md Shahab Uddin chaired the event held at the ministry.

Environment secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed and Dhaka University vice-chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, among others, were present at the meeting.

The awards will be given under 10 categories for their outstanding contribution to tree plantation in the country.

The categories are educational institutions (schools and senior madrasa); college and university; local government organisation; department, directorate, city corporation and organisation; NGO, club and voluntary organisation; individuals, private Nursery; rooftop garden at home; garden by forest department; plantation research, reservation and invention.

The winners will receive Tk 30,000 for first prize, Tk 20,000 for second prize and Tk 15,000 for third prize along with certificates.
