Shabbir Yusuf laid to rest

The chairman of Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association (BJSA), Shabbir Yusuf, was laid to rest on Saturday in his family graveyard of Moyez Manzil in Faridpur, says a press release.
He breathed his last in Gleneagles Hospital on July 03. The deceased, 66, has left behind his wife, daughter, two sons and a host of family and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Shabbir was the fourth son of eminent politician late Yusuf Ali Chowdhury (Mohan Miah) and a brother of former Food and Disaster Management Minister Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf.
His first Namaz-e-Janazah was held at Gulshan Central Mosque after Tarabi prayers yesterday after which he was taken to his ancestral home in Faridur. A final Janazah was held at the Faridpur Stadium before he was buried.
Shabbir was a former captain of the National Hockey Team and vice president of the Hockey Federation.
A pioneer in the development of hockey as well as the Jute Sector, Shabbir was also the Managing Director of Faridpur Jute Fibres Ltd, one of the oldest and largest jute mills in Bangladesh.
