Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Dhaka WASA Engineer AKM Shahid Uddin has been appointed Managing Director of the agency after Taqsem A Khan resigned from the post.
The new MD took over on Thursday after the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry issued a notification in this regard.
Taqsem A Khan who was first appointed as WASA's MD in 2009 remained in the post after renewal of his appointment for seventh times.
The last renewal of his appointment came into effect in August 2023 for next three years.
Though his appointment came in for criticism on allegations of corruption and irregularities on different occasions, it continued for the last 15 years.
Finally Taqsem tendered his resignation on Wednesday showing health reason.
The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry in a notification appointed Engineer AKM Shahid Uddin to the MD post.
