Ship breakers assoc elects new executives

CHITTAGONG, Nov 21: Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association elected new executives after holding its annual general meeting (AGM) in Chittagong on November 13 last.
The AGM was held at a local hotel with president of the association Jafar Alam in the chair. The AGM was attended by a large number of members of the BSBA.
Following the AGM, the members elected noted industrialist and vice chairman of Mostafa Group of Industries Hefazatur Rahman as new president of the body. Two elected vice presidents of the association are Abu Taher and Md Nazimuddin. Eight
members were also elected to the new committee. President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry MA Latif has congratulated the new president and vice presidents of the ship breakers association.
He hoped that the new leadership will contribute a lot in making the ship breaking a robust industry so that it can supply steel goods at tolerable prices besides ensuring welfare of their workers.
Meanwhile, the ship breakers association secretary Mansur Ali said they are now busy with schedules to meet the ambassador of Norway on November 22 and a minister from the same country on November 23.
Norwegian ambassador is visiting Chittagong tomorrow while a minister of Norway will reach the port city Monday night and meet the ship breakers on Tuesday morning, Ali said.
