Shrimp export to EU resumes Dec 7 next

Bangladesh will resume export of fresh water shrimp (Golda) to the European Union Market from December 7 next as the country has prepared itself to comply with the international food safety measures.
The department of fisheries in a meeting Sunday took the decision following remarkable progress in maintaining quality standard of shrimp.
The fisheries and livestock minister, who chaired the meeting, expressed satisfaction over significant development on implementation of measures for maintaining international standard of frozen shrimps.
In April, the country imposed voluntary ban on export of shrimp for six months after EU member country Belgium sent back around 54 shrimp consignments in January-March period.
The department of fisheries has sent a letter to the Bangladesh embassy in EU after taking the decision to withdraw the self-imposed ban on export of fresh water shrimp from December 7.
