FARIDPUR, Sept 2 (BSS): Six people were killed and sixty-five injured, when two local passenger buses collided head-on on Wednesday afternoon at Nagarkanda upazila's Jamtala point on the Faridpur-Barisal highway.
According to police sources, two of the deceased were identified as Habib Shaikh, 50, and Karun Dutta, 45. The three others included a woman and a six-month-old baby.
Faridpur Medical College Hospital sources said sixty-five injured passengers of the two buses were brought to the hospital but ten of them were released after being given first aid. The remaining fifty-five were still in the hospital.
Additional Police Super M Quamruzzaman told the news agency that the two buses collided head-on due to rash driving. Both the drivers fled the scene leaving behind the badly-damaged vehicles.
Police and Fire Service personnel then rushed to the spot and brought the injured and the dead passengers to the hospital, he added.
