Six more die of Covid, 1,324 fall sick in BD

The government has planned to conduct another round of nationwide booster-dose campaign to combat Covid-19 on July 19 next, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The day will be observed as "Covid-19 Booster Dose Day", states a notification of the health directorate signed by its Line Director Dr Md Shamsul Haque.
Covid-19 Vaccination Committee in collaboration with all offices concerned has encouraged people to receive their booster shots during the nationwide campaign, it says.
Eligible people, aged 18 years and above, will be vaccinated with Pfizer booster dose at their nearby vaccination points, if they have received the second dose of vaccine at least four months before, the DGHS said.
The latest notification came at a time when Bangladesh recorded 1,324 new cases along with six deaths due to the viral disease across the country in the last 24 hours till Thursday.
With the latest figures, the entire number of coronavirus infections rose to 1,993,382while the death toll remained unchanged to 29223.
The infection rate was 11.89 per cent as the daily caseload came from medical screening of 11,131 samples from 880 labs across the country.
Of the dead, four were males and two females. Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions reported three each.
On the other hand, Dhaka district, including the metropolitan city, accounted for almost 50 per cent of the daily caseload registered in the last 24 hours.
During the same period, a total of 1747 people recovered from the viral disease, taking the total tally of recovery to 1,919,166.
