The country's refiners have increased the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 6.0 a litre to Tk 195, while palm oil prices have risen by Tk 16 a litre. The price of loose soybean oil has been raised by Tk 7.0 per litre.
The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (BVORVMA) on Sunday issued a statement announcing the new rates.
The revised prices will take effect from Monday (today). The association said the hike was decided following consultations with the relevant government agency and approved by the Ministry of Commerce at a meeting held last Thursday.
As per the new rates, bottled soybean oil has increased from Tk 189 to Tk 195 per litre, loose soybean oil from Tk 169 to Tk 176 per litre, and palm oil from Tk 150 to Tk 166 per litre.
The price of a five-litre bottle of soybean oil has been set at Tk 955.
