The price correction of some major companies cast a negative impact on the indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Sunday, first trading session of the week.
Market operators said the withdrawal of the financial adjustment facility of 'A' and other categories by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) since last week has already put a brake on the galloping turnover and also share prices, the DSE witnessed during the last few months.
On Sunday, DSE General Index (DGEN), DSE-20 (DS20) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) shed 42.751 points, 42.552 points and 31.216 points to close at 2353.372, 2116.822 and 1924.708 respectively.
The total turnover rose to Tk 1.562 billion from Tk 1.256 billion on the previous session. But, the total market capitalisation declined to Tk 538.713 billion from Tk 545.919 billion on the previous trading day (Thursday).
Out of 212 traded issues prices of 43 increased, 145 declined and 24 remained unchanged on the day.
Square Pharma was the turnover leader with traded volume worth Tk 147.669 million followed by Summit Power Tk 141.254 million, BRAC Bank Tk 122.449 million, UCBL Tk 111.337 million, Desco Tk 69.798 million, Southeast bank Tk 65.505 million, NBL Tk 50.426 million, AB Bank Tk 37.306 million, Exim Bank Tk 34.174 million and Lafarge Surma Cement Tk 31.966 million.
Prices of Square Pharma declined 2.51 per cent to Tk 5254.75, Desco 3.34 per cent to Tk 960.00, Southeast Bank 3.48 per cent to Tk 554.50, NBL 1.59 per cent to Tk 971.75, AB Bank 1.76 per cent to Tk 1587.50 and Exim Bank 1.22 per cent to Tk 403.50.
Summit Power gained 5.10 per cent to Tk 1301.75, BRAC Bank 1.59 per cent to Tk 952.75, UCBL 5.93 per cent to Tk 3535.50 and Lafarge Surma Cement 0.30 per cent to Tk 409.00.
In response to a DSE query, Quasem Dry Cell has informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information of the company for recent unusual price hike
The ISN Limited has requested the concerned shareholders to collect their dividend warrants for the year 2006 from the Share department of the company at 52, New Eskaton Road, TMC Building (4th Floor) Dhaka from August 5 to 15 during office hours.
