Students of different educational institutions on Sunday gave a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest the bus helper who threatened to rape a student of Begum Badrunnessa Government Girls College.

The ultimatum was issued after they withdrew their blockade programme.

More than two hundred students blocked Bakshibazar Road in the city around 10:00 am and continued staging demonstrations for two hours in protest against the rape threat allegedly made by the bus helper.

The agitating students claimed that the bus helper of 'Thikana Paribahan' threatened to rape a second-year student of Badrunnessa Government Girls College at Shanir Akhra on Saturday when she wanted to pay half fare.

They demanded that the authority concerned bring the bus helper and driver to justice immediately. They also demanded half bus fare for all students on all routes in the city.

The agitating students threatened to go on tougher movement if their demands were not met within 24 hours.
