The High Court on Sunday declared illegal a government decision that suspended the monthly payment order (MPO) given to Hasina Begum, an Assistant Professor of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and also former acting principal.
The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque delivered the verdict after hearing a writ petition filed in this regard.
Advocate Siddique Ullah Miah who appeared in the court hearing on behalf of Hasina Begum said Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry suspended the MPO for Hasina Begum through a notification issued on January 27 in 2020.
Then she challenged the decision by filing a writ petition with the HC.
Following the writ petition the HC on February 11 in 2020 stayed the effectiveness of the notification and also issued a rule upon the respondents to explain as to why the notification should not be declared illegal.
After holding final hearing on the rule, the High Court declared it absolute on Sunday.
