Sylhet mudslide kills 4 stone quarry workers

SYLHET, Jan 2 (UNB): Four workers were killed and several others injured in a mudslide while extracting stones from a quarry in Jaflong area of Goainghat upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased, including a female, could not be identified yet.

Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police, said a portion of mud collapsed on a group of workers around 4:30pm while they were extracting stones from the quarry at Mondirer Jum.

Four workers died on the spot while several others suffered injuries, he said.
