Tax fair in divisions planned from next year

The revenue board plans to hold tax fair in all the divisions from next year following huge response to the first fair that it has initiated as 'test case,' NBR chief said Thursday.
"We will hold the tax fair in a large space from next year. We have a plan to hold the fair in all divisions from next year," National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Dr. Nasiruddin Ahmed said in a concluding ceremony of five-day tax fair.
The digitalisation process of NBR will be completed by next two years that would facilitate the tax payment procedures, he said.
The tax fair not only encouraged people but also educate them on payment of tax, he said.
The five-day tax-fair concluded Thursday after getting huge response of the people in the two major cities Dhaka and Chittagong.
The revenue board has received above 55,507 tax returns with Tk 1.17 billion tax in the fair. It has also received 17560 new taxpayers who have obtained TIN (taxpayers' identification number) in the fair, said a provisional data of NBR.
