Taxpayers across the country have found the ongoing tax fairs, kicked off Tuesday, a convenient place to obtain Taxpayers Identification Number (TIN) and submit tax returns.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been receiving increased response from taxpayers, even amid hartal, in the tax fairs.
On the third day of the fairs, some 98,630 taxpayers obtained services while 3460 new taxpayers got registered in the taxnet by obtaining online TIN, said a press release.
The NBR received 15,314 tax returns and collected Tk 1.61 billion in taxes from the tax fairs across the country Thursday, senior information officer of NBR Syed A Momen, said in the press release.
In the last three days, the NBR received Tk 7.73 billion income taxes and 45,358 tax returns from the tax fairs.
The tax, fairs will continue until September 22 in seven divisional cities from 10 am to 5.0 pm. On Friday, the tax fairs will remain closed for one hour, from 12.45 om to 1.45 pm, for Jumma prayer.
