Teenage girl gang-raped in capital

A teenage girl was gang-raped on Thursday by her colleague and two others at Uttara in the capital, according to police.

The victim was raped by her colleague Arif and two of his accomplices.

They forced her to an under-construction building and raped her. She was returning to her house at Sector 12 from her workplace on Thursday night.

She informed her family members of the incident. Her family members took her to Uttara West Police Station. She was then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The victim worked as a salesperson at a departmental store at the Rajlakshmi Complex of Uttara, according to family sources.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Arif on Friday. Babu, one of the accomplices of Arif, was also arrested by police. Another one is now absconding. Police were trying to arrest him, an official of the police station concerned told the FE on Friday.

"The victim has filed the case today (Friday). The case number is 38. We have arrested Babu, an accomplice of Arif. We are trying to arrest the other one," duty officer of Uttara West Police Station sub-inspector (S I) Al Amin said.   

He said that the victim was now undergoing treatment at DMCH.

The victim, who hails from Babuganj of Barisal, passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) last year. She came to the capital in search of a job due to financial insolvency of her family.
