The country's mobile operators have yet to ensure 4G services in most places outside Dhaka, according to the Bangladesh Telecommu-nication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink-the top three companies-cannot ensure a minimum download speed of at least 7.0 Mbps outside the capital, it said.
The test was conducted between January and February in Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal and Rangpur, the telecoms regulator said in a report on Wednesday.
The BTRC conducted drive tests to find out whether mobile operators are able to ensure the threshold internet speed for 4G anywhere else outside Dhaka.
But, in some cases, they are offering half the threshold speed, according to the report.
However, the state-run operator Teletalk remained outside the purview of the test as it is yet to roll out 4G service outside Dhaka.
Previously, another report debunked the operators, saying that they could not ensure 4G speed everywhere in Dhaka either.
In terms of 4G data speed, the mobile companies are offering the worst quality of 4G services in Barishal division, reads the BTRC report.
Banglalink's average speed for 4G network there was only 3.56 Mbps in the drive test.
On average, Robi offers 4.89 Mbps and Grameenphone 5.1 Mbps data speed.
The BTRC has run about 1,000-kilometre drive tests in Barishal, Patuakhali, Jhalakathi and Pirojpur districts of the division.
All the four operators also failed in the category of call-setup time in the districts, which needs to generate a call successfully within seven seconds.
In the division, Teletalk's call drop ratio is 7.0 per cent.
