At least ten people were killed and 48 injured in a collision between two buses and a truck on the western link road of the Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com.
The death toll was updated until filing this report at 10:00 pm on the day.
Bangabandhu Bridge (West) Police Station OC Helal Uddin said the death toll in the accident, which occurred in Konbari area under Kamarkhand Upazila, might rise further.
The victims could not be identified immediately.
Witnesses said the driver of a tin-laden truck lost control of the vehicle after its front tyre burst. The truck collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Antar Paribahan around 3:00 pm.
A Nabil Enterprise bus then hit the Antar Paribahan bus from behind, killing two persons on the spot.
Four others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
Resident Medical Officer of Sirajganj Sadar Hospital Faridul Islam said four more persons died at hospital.
The bodies were at the hospital's mortuary, he added.
The accident caused traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway.
