The tenth span of the Padma Bridge has been installed, making a 1.5-kilometre stretch of the main structure visible, reports bdnews24.com.
The span was placed on piers 13 and 14 at the Mawa end around 12:30pm on Wednesday, said Md Humayun Kabir, deputy assistant engineer at Bridges Division.
A floating crane carried the span from a construction yard at Kumarbhog earlier. The eleventh span is expected to be installed on Apr 20 between pillars 34 and 33 on the Jazira side, said the engineer.
The first span of the bridge was installed on Sept 19, 2017 and the second was installed on Jan 28, 2018.
The bridge will have a total of 42 of piers and 41 of spans, each 150 metres long and weighing 3,140 atonnes.
