Bangladesh needs a competent and efficient cadre of civil servants to address the challenges and opportunities of globalisation and free market economy, former deputy foreign minister Wajid Ali Khan Panni said.
"The effort towards good governance should start from reforming the civil service," he said while delivering a lecture Wednesday on 'Good Governance and Politicisation of Bureaucracy: Need for a New Approach' at the auditorium of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
Development Studies Group of IUB organised the lecture session, which was chaired by IUB Vice Chancellor Prof Bazlul Mubin Chowdhury, the university said in a statement Thursday.
IUB pro-VC Prof M Omar Rahman also attended the session.
