Tk 4.0b property of ex-minister Golam Dastagir Gazi attached

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has attached 4,880 decimals of land worth about Tk 4.0 billion belonging to former textile and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi.
The CID, in a press release on Sunday, informed that it has attached 4,879.92 decimals of land, whose deed value is Tk 165.28 million and immovable properties including Gazi Tire Company and various infrastructures therein, worth about Tk 4.0 billion, following a court order, reports BSS.
Golam Dastagir Gazi became the owner of the huge wealth through forcible land acquisition, taking commissions, forgery, fraud, hundi trading, under-invoicing and over-invoicing, and various organized crimes, the CID alleged.
Former Member of Parliament for Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj), Golam Dastagir Gazi, son of Golam Kabir Gazi and Samsun Nesa, of Bhuyan Bari, Uttar Ruposhi, Rupganj Thana, Narayanganj district, is the owner of 4,879.92 decimals of land in 69 deeds at Khadun area of Rupganj Thana in Narayanganj district.
During the investigation, the CID found that Gazi acquired the attached properties between 2015 and 2018.
Upon the application of the investigating officer of Financial Crime, CID Dhaka, the Senior Special Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued an order on July 8 for the attachment of the said properties.
A money laundering investigation is underway at the CID's Financial Crime Unit against Golam Dastagir Gazi and several individuals of his organized crime group, including institutions related to his interests.
