Travel agents seek extra Umrah flights during Ramadan

The country's travel agents have recently urged two airlines to increase the number of flights from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia aiming to facilitate Umrah pilgrims' journey during season centring Ramadan.

Association of Travel Agent of Bangladesh (ATAB) made the requests to Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudia Airlines through letters issued on the Wednesday last.

According to the letters, also obtained by the FE, the trade body also requested the carriers to keep the ticket price at an acceptable level.

"We request that you consider operating extra flights from Dhaka to Jeddah and Medina during the period between March 01 and April 23, 2023," the letter said.

Highlighting on the Umrah season centring Ramadan, the ATAB said it has been receiving information from its member travel agencies regarding insufficient flight from Dhaka to Jeddah and Medina, especially during the peak Umrah season.

"Many of these passengers have been facing difficulties in obtaining tickets, causing them inconvenience and frustration," the letter reads.
