Treatment of industrial, clinical waste must to protect environment

Speakers at a seminar have suggested proper treatment and management of industrial and clinical waste to save the people from environmental degradation.
They underscored the need for taking immediate action plan considering the adverse impact of global warming as the northern part of the country already starts to witness desertification.
They also said the environmental issue has become a reality in the country subsequent to the development partners having raised the issue of environmental hazards.
The seminar on 'increasing environmental pollution in Bangladesh' was organised by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Alumni Association of Bangladesh as a part of celebrating the World Environment Day-2007 in the city.
Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University (BSMRAU) Lutfor Rahman attended the seminar as the chief guest, while resident representative of JICA Nohuko Suzuki Kayashima was the special guest.
Executive engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) Syed Mahfuz Ahmed presented the keynote paper of the seminar.
In his paper Lutfor Rahman laid emphasis on creating massive awareness about the adverse impact of the environmental degradation.
