A trial train from Dhaka leaves for Kolkata today (Sunday) to discuss unresolved issues about the launch of direct passenger rail services between the two neighbouring countries, reports bdnews24.com.
The train with 35 government officials on board will start from the Cantonment Station in the capital at 7.00am, a railway official said.
"We'll start for Kolkata at 7.00 in the morning from the Cantonment Station," said Bangladesh Railway's additional director general Kazi Asad Ullah.
Additional secretary of the communications ministry ATKM Ismail will head Bangladesh delegation.
An Indian delegation arrived in Dhaka on July 08 on a trial train to discuss the issues on the launch of Dhaka-Kolkata passenger trains. The officials of the two countries failed to reach a consensus on an Indian proposal to build fencings along the Darshana-Gede border.
Bangladeshi and Indian officials at a joint press conference on July 10 said the unresolved issues would be sorted out at the bilateral meeting in Kolkata.
The Kolkata meeting is expected to fix a date for launching the direct passenger train services between Dhaka and Kolkata.
Bangladesh delegates will return home on Aug 01.
