US President Donald Trump says talks with Iran are progressing 'slowly but surely', as Israel intensifies operations in Lebanon, reports Al Jazeera.

United States President Donald Trump has told Fox News he is in "no hurry" for a deal with Iran as the Israeli army claimed to have captured a strategic castle in southern Lebanon in the deepest incursion into the country in 26 years.

The comments come as US media reported that Trump asked for several amendments to the preliminary agreement with Iran during his meeting at the White House on Friday.

Reuters adds: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered troops to move further into Lebanon in the battle against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group, he said on Sunday, despite a ceasefire announced more than six weeks ago.

The fighting in Lebanon has been the broadest spillover

of the Iran war, displacing more than 1.2 million since March 2.
