Two Covid deaths, 1,051 new cases posted in BD


Bangladesh reported two deaths from Covid-19 on Friday along with 1,051 positive cases of the viral disease, according to official data.
Some 9,100 samples were test in the past 24 hours till 8:00 am on the day.
Of them, around 11.55 per cent were found positive for the virus, shows the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data.
On Thursday, a total of 11,131 samples were tested with an 11.89-per cent positivity rate.
To date, fatality from the disease reached 29,225. The overall caseload has now stood at 1,994,433, according the updater DGHS.
Meanwhile, around 1,957 people have recovered from the viral infection, taking total recoveries to 1,921,123.
The recovery rate has reached 96.32 per cent while the mortality rate has remained static at 1.47 per cent.
Besides, the positivity rate of the infection against the numbers tested stood at 13.77 per cent.
Among the deceased, one is from Dhaka metropolitan area and another from Meherpur district.
As of July 14, a total of 279,585,685 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including boosters, have been administered as the countrywide vaccination campaign was launched on 07 February 2021, reports BSS.
"A total of 129,526,431 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Thursday while 119,794,388 received the second dose countrywide during the period," according to the DGHS.
As many as 30,241,346 people received booster doses to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, it states.
A total of 33,412,350 students aged 12-17 were vaccinated with first and second doses.
Of them, 17,347,831 students received first dose of vaccines while 16,064,519 were immunised with second dose of the jabs, DGHS sources say.
Some 372,564 people have so far been inoculated across the country, they said. "To date, Bangladesh received over 30 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines."
On the other hand, a total of 99,980,665 people got registered to receive vaccines as of July 14, adds BSS.
