Two held over defrauding overseas passengers in city

Police arrested two persons on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in snatching money from people bound for foreign counties in the capital.s

The arrestees were identified as Md Razu (52) and Md Nazmul (50).

They used to impersonate police personnel to take away money from the people bound for foreign countries.

Police arrested them in front of Kalmilata Kitchen Market at Tejgaon in the capital.An official at Tejgaon Police Station told the FE that the arrestees were professional muggers.

There are several cases of mugging filed against them with the police.

The duo used to target foreign counties-bound lower-middle class people and trick them into giving away their money and belongings.

He further said that a Saudi Arabia-bound passenger named Al Amin came to the capital for medical check-up on Wednesday morning.

At that time, the arrestees forcefully picked Al Amin into a CNG-run autorickshaw.
